Dan developed more than 10 applications for iPhone and Android for his software company Proactive Life – one was in the top 5 health and fitness apps on the Apple App Store. He is a cognitive psychologist with extensive research expertise and recently completed his PhD in Human Factors and Applied Cognition. He is fluent in a number of programming languages, including Objective C and Lisp, as well as Web development and statistical analysis software. Dan was recently granted a US Patent on Cyclical Behavior Modification. He has developed software and computer algorithms in consultation to a number of large companies.
Coming from a computational and computer science background, Octavian has been leveraging his experience in building service-oriented architectures, data analytics platforms, and general development know-how with an emphasis on simple, readable code to develop a stable, usable platform for the Fleet APIs. Formerly a Data Analytics/Software Engineer at Netuitive, and has an MS in Nuclear Engineering from NCSU and a BS in Physics and BA in Mathematics from UVA.
Chongha Peter Lee is an artist and designer currently pursuing a degree in the Transmedia MFA program at Syracuse University. He was awarded the University Fellowship to pursue his research on post-digital transformations of media and society.His new media intervention, “Barcode Orchestra” has been shown in several venues including the World Bank in Washington DC. Since 2010, He has been an integral member of the Floating Lab Collective, producing “The Collective White House” for the Museum of Antioquia’s MDE 11 Triennial in Medellin, Colombia and the “ReMuseum” for the 5×5 Public Art Project, Washington, DC’s first internationally curated public art initiative.
Melissa Smith is completing her PhD in Human Factors & Applied Cognition at George Mason University in 2016, after earning her MA in Human Factors & Applied Cognition from GMU in 2012 and her BS in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2012. She has worked on numerous product development research projects and teams, including with Google Inc, Percpetronics Solutions Inc, Sonalysts Inc, and the Naval Surface Warefare Center. One of the original Fleet founders and the Chief Operating Officer, she currently manages the business side and conducts user experience research for Fleet.
Dr. Robert Youmans, Advisor Dr. Robert J. Youmans is a head of UX at Google Social with a backgrounds in design and cognitive psychology. Rob was an Assistant Professor and Director of the Creative Design and User Experience (CDUX) laboratory at George Mason University (2011-2014). Rob earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology with a doctoral minor in Industrial Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2007) for his research on links between physical prototyping and creative design.
Jordan draws on a diverse background in design, development, and digital strategy to build products that deliver business value, specializing in the design of enterprise application system and dashboards for data visualization that help organizations make better decisions. A veteran of start-ups and political campaigns, he also previously has served as creative director in the United States Senate for Democratic leadership and as a digital strategist at the Defense Intelligence Agency. Jordan has a bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design from George Mason University, and a masters degree in management of information technology from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Vincent brings expertise in both the development and legal fronts. Vince holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Georgetown University and is finishing a JD from George Washington University focusing on Intellectual Property and business. Vincent is a former Patent Examiner for the USPTO and a Licensing Associate. Most recently, Vincent co-founded a computer vision company which had a successful exit. As a registered patent agent, Vincent has been helping build Fleet’s IP Portfolio.
Jared Ramsburg, PhD is a cognitive scientist, user experience researcher, martial arts expert, and analyst with a strong academic and practical background in research methodology, techniques, and statistics. He has 8+ years of collaborative impactful research and a strong background in publishing and presenting research findings to academic and non-academic audiences. His aim is to create innovative solutions to usability problems with real world impact.
